Why buyers choose Ukrainian sunflower oil
Ukraine is one of the world's leading producers of sunflower seed and, together with Russia, one of the two largest exporters of sunflower oil. USDA estimates put Ukraine's share of global sunflower oil exports at around 30 % in the 2025/26 season.
For importers this means an established supply base, a choice of grades and a well-known export documentation process.
Grades available from Ukrainian origin
- Refined sunflower oil: neutral flavor and light color, for retail packaging, food service and food production.
- Crude sunflower oil: unrefined oil for refineries and industrial processing.
- High oleic sunflower oil: higher oxidative stability for frying and long shelf-life products.
How the origin is documented
Each shipment is accompanied by a certificate of origin stating Ukraine, together with the batch Certificate of Analysis (COA), so importers can declare the origin to customs and to their own customers.
Import duties and trade conditions depend on the destination country and on the agreements in force at the time of import. Your customs broker can confirm the tariff that applies to HS heading 1512 (1512.11 crude, 1512.19 refined).
Formats and logistics
Packaged: PET bottles from 500 mL to 25 L, with orders from one pallet. Bulk: flexitank, ISO tank or drums.
The loading point, route and transit time depend on the format, the quantity and the destination. They are confirmed in each quotation together with the Incoterms® 2020 rule: see price and Incoterms.
Documents that accompany a shipment
Every order is documented so that your customs broker, quality team and auditors can verify what they receive. The basic set is:
- Certificate of Analysis (COA) for the batch, reporting parameters such as acidity, peroxide value, moisture and purity.
- Certificate of origin (Ukraine).
- Phytosanitary certificate, when the destination country requires it.
- Commercial invoice and packing list.
- Transport document (bill of lading, CMR or equivalent for the mode of transport).
